Nottinghamshire based civil engineering and building firm North Midland Construction PLC has secured two contracts with a combined value of £2.75m on the A46 road widening scheme between Newark and Widmerpool.

The company's utilities division has been appointed by Balfour Beatty, the main contractors on the A46 Newark to Widmerpool road scheme working for the Highways Agency, to install new water mains plus BT and Virgin Media ducts along the A46 from Newark to Widmerpool.

In addition, NMC's civil engineering division has been awarded a contract to handle drainage diversions at Flintham, near Newark.

The work will involve the installation of 800 metres of new sewer pipework below the existing A46 carriageway.
