Businesses can find out about export opportunities with Japan at a Loughborough event.

The Japanese ambassador for the UK, Shin Ebihara, will join the British ambassador to Japan, David Warren, at the conference in Holywell Park on Monday.

The event, called Japan Day, has been planned by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and Business Link Japan.

The ambassadors will be planting a tree together in the grounds of the university in preparation for the arrival of the Japanese Olympic team, who will be staying in Loughborough for the entirety of the London Olympic Games.

Firms in the county are being invited to take part in a variety of workshops aimed at showing how they can export their products and services to Japan.

UKTI said there was a wealth of opportunities in industry sectors including healthcare, transport, food and drink, and creative industries.

Steve Crane, founder and director of Business Link Japan, said: "I am delighted to see the East Midlands get the opportunity to learn about business possibilities in Japan on such a large scale."

For more information or to secure a place at Japan Day, call UKTI on 0845 052 4001.
