A FORMER Somerfield store in Oakwood is set to reopen today following a £170,000 revamp.

The shop in Danebridge Crescent will be relaunched as a Co-op food store.

Last year, the Co-operative Group bought the Somerfield supermarket chain in a deal worth £1.56 billion. It is now investing in rebranding and revamping those stores. The investment in Oakwood has helped secure 42 jobs.

Oakwood store manager Stuart Humfries said: "This investment in the store means we can now provide a much enhanced service."
