A JOINT franchisee of a store which sells pre-owned goods has been recognised for raising thousands of pounds for a cerebral palsy charity.

Sue Hodgkinson, who runs the Cash Converters store, in Osmaston Road, Derby, has been named Fund-raiser of the Year by Cerebral Palsy Sport England and Wales (CP Sport).

She received the award after raising more than £3,000 from competing in the Great North Run and holding a black-tie ball in her back garden. Much of her sponsorship came from colleagues and customers.

CP Sport aims to increase sport and physical recreational opportunities for people with a disability, especially those who have cerebral palsy.

Sue said: "The charity is very active in the area and we are proud to support a charity that makes such a difference to people's lives."

Jeremy Pratt, trustee of CP Sport, who presented the award to Sue, said: "This is a tremendous effort from Sue and we are very grateful."
