AN aerospace parts supplier which has its logistics division in Derby has been encouraged by an improving order book in the first quarter of the year.

In an interim management statement issued to the London Stock Exchange , Umeco, which owns Pattonair in Longbridge Lane, Ascot Business Park, said that its order book now stood at £240.5m, compared to £227.4m in March.

The firm said a large number of orders for new aircraft placed at last week's Farnborough Air Show gave hope of more work in the future.

Airbus and Boeing received order for 555 aircraft, which was ahead of expectations.

Pattonair employs 180 people in Derby. A key customer is Rolls-Royce.
