An environmentally-friendly building has received an award.

Lymedale Business Centre in Newcastle has won The Green Organisation's annual Green Apple Award.
Judges saw the centre was leading the field in environmental technology with its solar panels, rainwater recycling, automated lighting and special cooling windows.

The county council hopes the project will help it meet its commitment to tackle global warming by cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 80 per cent by 2050.

Staffordshire county councillor John Wakefield, cabinet member for economic prosperity and sustainable communities, said: "This award commends our commitment to ensuring all of our new developments are environmentally sustainable in the long term."
