STORE DEFIES FORECAST

A Luxury goods store has unveiled a rise in its yearly fortunes, despite worries of a downturn for shops.

Bang & Olufsen in Lincoln said the 9.3 per cent rise in sales from 2006 could be put down to a variety of factors including the release of popular television, mobile phone and mp3 options and because people are upgrading their equipment for the digital switchover.

Managing director Gavin Sykes said: "The figures demonstrate there is strong demand for quality luxury electrical goods in Lincoln.

"We are confident that with the new products coming out this year we will continue to increase sales."
