Derbyshire's Sue launches business and opens shops - at 61

A Grandmother who has spent most of her career in education has turned her passion for making jewellery into a business - and is set to open her first shop.Sue Gent started her business, Tangent Treasures, last year after taking voluntary redundancy from Burton College, where she was an information systems manager.

Mrs Gent, 61, started out by making a range of jewellery and she has now decided to open her own shop in Willington.

The new shop opens in The Green tomorrow. It will sell range of products including yarn, crafts and gifts, as well as handmade jewellery created by Mrs Gent.

She will also continue to take commissions for bespoke jewellery.

The grandmother-of-two said: "I have always wanted to do something like this and I'm so pleased that I can actually do it now. The shop will appeal to people of all ages, as well as for those who are interested in creating their own crafts and those who want to buy the finished article."
